Coming of the King
Wednesday, September 30th, 2009 | Author: bixmark

fall09_ComingKing_LogoTime to get ready, to declare the good news, the long awaited King, the very Son of God himself is coming!  That is how Mark begins his account of the coming of Jesus to this earth.  Join us each week as we see Jesus’ encounters with ordinary people like us, and as we witness afresh their responses to him.

We began 2 weeks ago at the beginning, with the coming of one who would prepare the way for the arrival of this king.  Yet the preparation was not exactly what one might expect for a king, actually it was heralded by a man wearing a camel’s hair, eating locusts, and telling the religious people of the day that they needed to undergo a new baptism, repenting of their sins.  Why would Mark declare that this man is the one sent to prepare for God’s anointed leader?  and what does his message have to do with us today?

To read more of God’s unexpected preparations and their implications for us go to the “Teachings” page here.

And then come join us for the unfolding story every Sunday night at 6:30 at Grace Bible Fellowship Church here in Wallingford, PA.

Real Change is Coming
Tuesday, August 18th, 2009 | Author: bixmark

CR_Park09Have you ever looked at the messed up world we live in and wondered what it would take to truely change things?  God says that what is needed is a total change of heart, a change that will cause people to actually seek Him and to want to do right.  The problem is that we don’t naturally want to seek God or obey Him.  Zephaniah, while echoing many of the prophets in seeing how bad the world has gotten, goes on to promise that God has a plan to fix it, and that plan involves actually changing people’s hearts.

Find out more of what Zephaniah and the other prophets say about real change Here

Waiting for Revival
Thursday, August 13th, 2009 | Author: bixmark

CR_Park09The prophet Micah says many things that echo the themes of the other prophets before him.  But there is one big difference – King Hezekiah actually listened to Micah, turned the country back to God, and saw God turn away the approaching armies and instead bless the people!  It did not happen immediately, Micah taught for a good 20 years under 2 other kings before revival came, but God was faithful to use His word to change people’s lives.

Running from the Merciful God
Tuesday, August 04th, 2009 | Author: bixmark

CR_Park09Has God ever said anything to you that you did not like?  Have you ever wanted to run away from God?  Are you running even now?  In the story of Jonah we see someone who ran away from God, and we see God mercifully pursuing him and using him to save people from destruction.  Through it all we see Jonah get more and more angry with God, to the point of wanting to die, and we see how God responds to his anger. This book is also a great help in understanding both the purposes and sovereignty of God, and how that fits with man’s choices.

You can learn more about Jonah’s journey and what that means for us Here

Arguing with an “Unfair” God
Thursday, July 23rd, 2009 | Author: bixmark

CR_Park09Have you ever felt life was unfair?  Have you ever wondered why bad things happen to good people, or even why evil things happen at all if there is a powerful, loving God out there?  Maybe you have even prayed in the midst of a hard time and instead of God helping you out things got worse!  Maybe you have had questions or doubts about God, or even been angry with Him.  Habakkuk had many of these same questions and concerns in his day, and he recorded for us some of his conversations with God.

You can eavesdrop on Habakkuk and hear the dialog between him and God Here

God’s Jealously meets Man’s Pride
Thursday, July 16th, 2009 | Author: bixmark

CR_Park09How can God be both “slow to anger” and “full of vengeance and wrath”, both “Jealous” and yet one who “hates pride”, how can Nahum say both “The LORD is good, a refuge in times of trouble. He cares for those who trust in him,” and “but with an overwhelming flood he will make an end of Nineveh; he will pursue his foes into darkness.”?  How do mercy and wrath both come from the same God?  And where does man fit into the picture?  What place is there for man to be proud in his own achievements in the face of a jealous God?

Read how Obadiah and Nahum confront the pride and un-brotherliness of Edom along with the pride and wickedness of Nivah, and in the process see who God is and where you and I stand before Him today.  Read the story Here
